Today's Sports Psychology blog comes after the sacking of Martin Allen at Leicester City after a mere four games at the helm.

Football: The Milan Mandarich Method

Milan Mandarich - Stability = Boring

So four games into Martin Allen's reign at Leicester City he is sacked. Clearly not a decision based on results, as only last Saturday, they put Championship favourites Watford to the sword.

Rumours had been brewing for a few weeks that Allen and Mandarich were not seeing eye to eye, but what is it about Milan Mandarich that means we are not completely surprised at these developments?

Milan's reign at Portsmouth was marked by the frequency with which managers came in and out of the club. Rix; Claridge; Perrin; Pulis; Redknapp etc. It's as if instability and change are the fuels that drive him. That provide him with the edge he needs. Perhaps stability equates with lack of progress to him. There must always be something more. Something new. Stability = boring.

Like many entrepreneurs, he loves the thrill of the start-up. The shiny bright new thing. The fresh start. And with it, the limelight. Making the news. Being the story. Being talked about.

This doesn't mean of course that he won't be successful at Leicester. His ambition and desire mean that he probably will be. But it won't be a calm, quiet stable journey. If it was, Milan would become concerned!
