Golf: Tiger Woods - Mental Strength!

Tiger Woods - US Open Champion 2008

So Tiger Woods wins his 14th major title. His triumph at Torrey Pines, coming despite a troublesome knee injury and persistent erratic driving from the tee. Whilst a win for Rocco Mediate, would have been a great victory for the underdog, Tiger's success resonated throughout the sporting world.

There was a sense of awe in seeing him succeed, yet again, despite being some way short of his immaculate best. Succeed, because of the deeply rooted power of his mental strength.

Mental strength, that refuses to acknowledge defeat. That can dig deep in adversity, and find hidden reserves of will. Tiger's mental attitude, is a fantastic lesson for young sports people, in what it takes to be a winner.

It shows, that if you are prepared to do the mental work, to match your talent, then success can be yours. Talented players, often think that talent is enough. It never is. It must be matched with a presence of mind and attitude, that can draw the best, out of your character and values.

There may never be another player again, quite like Tiger Woods. Few can have his talent. But all can learn from, and adopt, some of the attributes of his mental strength. If you are prepared to do the work of it.

It may mean changing habits and attitudes. Perhaps, becoming more single-minded and dedicated. More focused and disciplined. But the power of the mind, can move mountains.

The legacy of Tiger Woods, may well be to help people, tap into their greater potential. As his inspiration causes others, to put the time and effort, to building their minds, as well as their bodies. Being 'Tiger-like' in attitude and spirit, will become the mark, of the best of the emerging sporting generation.
